What Weekly Pool Service Should Cost in Phoenix (and What Is Usually Missing)

Weekly residential pool service in the Phoenix Valley area generally runs from around $94 to $184 a month depending on pool size, equipment and tree cover. That is a wide band, and the spread is rarely about greed — it is about what is actually included.

Question one: are chemicals included?

This is the biggest single reason quotes differ. A $99 service that bills chemicals separately can easily land above a $149 all-inclusive service in a hot month, and you will not know until the invoice arrives.

Ask specifically: are chlorine, acid, alkalinity increaser, stabilizer and shock included in the monthly rate? What is billed separately, and at what price?

Question two: what happens on a visit?

The cheapest services are "chemical only" — someone tests, doses and leaves. No vacuuming, no brushing, no tile, no baskets. That is a legitimate product and it is much cheaper, but it is not the same thing as pool cleaning, and a pool on chemical-only service still needs someone doing the physical work.

A full service should cover all seven: vacuum, brush, tile, skim, baskets, chemistry, filter check.

Question three: filters and extras

Filter cleaning is where "cheap" quotes get made up. Some companies charge $75–$150 per filter clean on top of monthly service, several times a year. Ask whether routine filter service is included or extra before comparing monthly numbers.

Same for salt cell cleaning, algaecide, phosphate remover and holiday weeks. None of these should be surprises.

Question four: who actually shows up

A fixed route with a fixed technician on a fixed day is a meaningfully different product from a dispatch model where whoever is free takes your pool. The technician who has seen your pump every week for a year notices the bearing noise. A rotating stranger does not.
